ACT:The Diversity Center’s flagship School & Youth program ACT: Action and Awareness for Change Teams empowers students with the skills and resources to serve as positive change agents for inclusion and strengthens their proficiencies around core curriculum guidelines. CULTURAL COMPETENCY: Cultural Competence training provides the necessary tools to help individuals understand and address the impact of race, class, and gender, as well as with other aspects of diversity and their intersection on a systemic level. This training also focuses on discussions about the realities of racial and ethnic inequities and disparities that lead to decision making based on conscious or unconscious bias. This training also helps participants understand the impact of power, privilege, and oppression and how individual bias and belief may limit the ability to understand and communicate effectively with clients, staff, or co-workers.
